You just knew that it would not be a case of “when” Lawrence Frank would find a job in the National Basketball Association, but “where” he would get hired.
Let’s just say that Frank’s place of employment and the job title may or may not – dependng on your point of view – be a rung lower than he is accustomed to.
In any event, Nets Daily is reporting that Frank has agreed to a contract, becoming an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics. According to Frank:
“I think it’s a good situation for me – I wanted to get back and coach, and I didn’t want to sit and wait, and you can’t ask for a better situation or a better organization.”
Seems to me that there isn’t much to make out of this, other than Frank obviously didn’t want to be an analyst for the rest of his adult life; besides, coaching – even at the assistant level – is in Frank’s blood.
And obviously, the Celtics braintrust remembers back in the day when Frank was the head honcho on the hardwood in New Jersey. A good move by Boston, although one must wonder when the head coaching itch will strike Frank.
