The Orlando Magic, besides keeping some stability within their roster, have kept some upstairs personnel and their coach locked up for a while longer as according to the Sporting News, the team announced on Wednesday that they have signed coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith to contract extensions.
In addition, they also promoted Smith to  president of basketball operations; terms of both deals were not available at the time of this posting.
The signing makes sense as Van Gundy, as coach of the Magic, is sporting a 170-76 record and took the team to the NBA Finals in 2009; meanwhile, Smith was an original member of the Magic when they were an expansion team and was originally promoted to GM back in 2006.
Along with the signings and promotion, the Magic say that they’re looking at bringing back point guard Jason Williams and will talk to his agent some time this week. Smith also said that he’s considering “two younger guys” for the third point guard spot.
