Below is the most current injury report for September 9, according to Yahoo! Sports:
Boston Celtics
Kendrick Perkins – Perkins’ 2009-10 season came to an end when he tore his MCL and PCL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. He is currently slated to return in mid-February.
Delonte West – West is slated to miss the first 10 games of the NBA season serving his suspension for last year’s gun charges.
Charlotte Bobcats
Shaun Livingston – Livingston’s minutes could still be limited and he may miss some off-day practices as a result of his 2007 knee injury.
Dallas Mavericks
Rodrigue Beaubois – Beaubois broke his foot while training with the French National team in early August and was expected to miss two to three months after undergoing surgery.
Denver Nuggets
Chris Andersen – Andersen has had no set-backs in his recovery from May 24 surgery to repair a partially torn patella tendon in his right knee but still can’t say that he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season.
Kenyon Martin – As with Andersen, Martin had off-season knee surgery and is out indefinitely. Martin himself can’t pinpoint how many months he’ll need to recover.
Detroit Pistons
Ben Gordon – After an injury-riddled 2009-10 season, Gordon underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from his left ankle.
Tracy McGrady – McGrady claims he is in much better shape than at any point last season, when he carried extra weight, was poorly conditioned, and struggled to play back-to-back games.
Golden State Warriors
Andris Biedrins – Biedrins played through injuries in 2009-10 and eventually had surgery in March to repair a small abdominal tear.
David Lee – Lee injured his middle finger during USA basketball’s practice in July and was slated to miss up to six weeks. The timeline means he should be ready to go for Warriors’ camp.
Ekpe Udoh – Udoh tore a ligament in his left wrist during a workout in July and isn’t likely to return to the court until late January.
Houston Rockets
Chase Budinger – Budinger is expected to miss the start of training camp because of moderate to severe left ankle sprain suffered in early September. His expected timeline for returning to basketball activities is four to six weeks.
Yao Ming – Doctors declared Yao’s foot fully healed in late August and he immediately resumed basketball activities.
Indiana Pacers
Darren Collison – Collison fractured a finger on his right hand in mid-August but, barring any setbacks, is expected to be ready to go for the start of training camp.
Tyler Hansbrough – Hansbrough is still dealing with the effects of an inner ear infection, post-concussion symptoms, and vertigo that limited him to 29 games as a rookie. Although he has been working out, he hasn’t been cleared for contact work and his timetable remains up in the air.
Brandon Rush – Rush has been suspended for the first five games of the season for violating the NBA’s drug policy on three separate occasions last year.
Los Angeles Clippers
Blake Griffin – Vinnie Del Negro has stated that Griffin isn’t 100 percent yet but should be at the start of the regular season.
Los Angeles Lakers
Kobe Bryant – There latest on Kobe – via Luke Walton – is that he looks great and said his knee feels great, and he’s about to resume basketball-related activities. When it comes to his ravaged right index finger, it’s doubtful that he’ll ever play again without some kind of support and he’s going to have to deal with arthritis as a result of the accumulated abuse.
Andrew Bynum – Bynum underwent surgery in late July to repair a tear in his right meniscus. He’s expected to be limited in the start of Lakers’ camp but be at 100 percent when the regular season begins.
Miami Heat
Mario Chalmers – Chalmers is currently listed as questionable for the start of camp after suffering a high ankle sprain during July workouts.
Milwaukee Bucks
Andrew Bogut – The 2009-10 season ended in brutal fashion for Bogut as he fell awkwardly on his right arm after a dunk in late April – the injuries he sustained in the fall included a sprained wrist, broken hand, and dislocated elbow. Bogut said he still couldn’t shoot the ball and wasn’t sure if he’d be 100% by the start of the regular season in a television interview in mid-August.
Michael Redd – Redd isn’t expected to be physically fit to resume working out until January 2011, and he may not be a consideration for an active roster at any point this season.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Jonny Flynn – Flynn underwent hip surgery in late July and was expected to be out at least three months. He was off crutches as of August 31, but he’s still expected to miss training camp and the start of the season.
New Orleans Hornets
Chris Paul – Paul played only seven games after returning from knee surgery before his season ended due to a ligament tear in his right middle finger. He is expected to be fully healthy entering training camp.
Peja Stojakovic – Stojakovic missed the Hornets final 18 games due to an abdominal injury but should be ready to go at the start of training camp.
New York Knicks
Kelenna Azubuike – The Knicks have no idea as to when Azubuike, recovering from November 18 surgery to repair a torn knee tendon, will be healthy enough to practice with the team.
Phoenix Suns
Robin Lopez – Lopez missed 20 games total late last season (10 regular season, 10 playoffs) due to a bulging disk in his back. He withdrew from USA Basketball training camp over the summer as a precautionary move.
Portland Trail Blazers
Greg Oden – Oden’s timeline remains vague as Portland officials refuse to comment on whether or not he’ll be ready to play come opening day.
Joel Przybilla – The Trail Blazers currently don’t expect Przybilla to return until late November or December at the earliest.
Sacramento Kings
Tyreke Evans – Evans was suspended for the first game of the season as a result of his reckless driving arrest in late May.
Toronto Raptors
Jose Calderon – In an exhibition match against the United States, Calderon tore his hamstring muscle and is expected to need a month to recover.
Utah Jazz
Raja Bell – Bell missed all but six games last season due to a serious wrist injury. All signs point to his being ready for training camp (he passed his physical and Utah didn’t match Portland’s offer to Wesley Matthews).
Mehmet Okur – Okur tore his Achilles in the Jazz’s first playoff game last season, and a timetable for his return to the court remains unclear.
Washington Wizards
Andray Blatche – Blatche had surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot in June and was expected to miss three months. He has been out of his walking boot since late August and plans to be ready for training camp, although the team is not looking to rush him.
Josh Howard – Howard tore his ACL in February and hopes to be at or near full strength by mid-season.
