All the hype in this summer’s NBA free agency went to that over-hyped diva Queen James. Who would be so narcissistic to host a 1-hour special about where it was going to go? After stabbing his hometown Cavs in the heart, he decided to go to a place where he could be the sidekick and not take the “heat” when he choked.
Meanwhile quietly going about their business, the Lakers deepened their very thin bench. By signing Blake, Barnes & Ratliff, they know how legitimate backups at every position. In case of injury, or just poor play, you now are 10 deep (and that’s not including their 2 new rookies)
Have you noticed the Lakers can match up with the Heat defensively now? Kobe on Wade, Artest/Barnes on James & Gasol/Bynum on Bosh. Defense wins championships and the Lakers know a little about that.
I’ll go as far as to say the Heat might not even make it to the Finals to meet the Lakers. The Celtics have retooled and they are big in the post. Say what you want, but winners live in the paint. Even the Bulls could give the Heat a bad time…
On a side note, one of the best moves the Lakers made was dumping Jordan Farmar. If he was half as good as the game he talked, he’d be a starter somewhere. I’m glad they let that arrogant fool walk. He was the ONLY one unhappy when they won the championship. Have fun losing 50+ games in NJ you loser.
So Lakers fans, get excited! We now have the deepest bench and Phil is the master of taming egos. The Lakers are going to be the best defensive team in the league and they will go out in style with a 3-peat and ending Phil Jackson’s career at 12 titles.
