Just three minutes in, “Big 3″ separated
Dwyane Wade’s performance against Detroit could be described in just one word: Flash”. Just like his nickname, if you blinked, you missed him in action. Wade was quick to get on the court, and quick to get off it, as he came up lame holding his hamstring on defense after an effort to run down Rip Hamilton off of a baseline screen. Just three minutes in, the “Big 3″ was lost one of its members.
The 2006 NBA Finals MVP knew his night was finished once the injury occurred. “I just felt it pull,” Wade said. “I knew automatically it was a pulled hamstring. It was a little sore coming into the game the last couple days of practice and stuff, so I tried to do everything to make it go away. But it happens.”
It makes you wonder if the team can go an extended period of time without one of the participants of “Miami Thrice”.
If that’s the case, LeBron believes it will elicit a concentrated team effort. “As a team, everyone has to pick it up,” James said.
Early indications concerning the hamstring say Wade might miss a couple of weeks.
Apart from the doom and gloom, D-Wade felt the electricity, despite it being the preseason. “It was a preseason game, but the atmosphere was great,” Wade said. “There was a lot of excitement about the opportunity to see this team play together, and they only saw me play for three minutes. It’s fine. I think Miami’s seen me play for a long time and they’ll get a lot of time to see the ‘Big 3,’ as they say, our team play together.”
“Like I told him, if we’re going to have an injury, I’d rather have it now than to have it when we really get started,” James said. With that said, October 26th is inching closer, day by day. On that note, you know Dwyane will treat his situation quite “delicately”.
“You just have to treat it delicately,” Chris Bosh said, “and make sure you respect it.” Respect, something this team will have to earn, something that will be hard to come accomplish, especially if Wade is out; no matter what the duration. Well, that is, unless LeBron has something to say about it. Indeed, just like the Wade injury, that will be left for all to ponder.
