Wizards Guard Arenas Fined $50,000 For Faking Injury

Gilbert Arenas is going to be a little lighter in the pocketbook, as reports from Comcast Sports Net confirm he has been fined $50,000 for faking a knee injury on Tuesday.

The guard told his team that he had a sore knee Tuesday, and that night he didn’t play against the Hawks. Of course then he opened his mouth, and told reporters after the game that he had faked the injury in order to give guard Nick Young, who had struggled in recent games, more playing time.

Young scored 24 points against the Hawks. The team fined Arenas on Wednesday. Arenas didn’t start Thursday against Milwaukee, but suffered a groin injury just three minutes after coming into the game in the first quarter.
