After a couple days of league meetings in New York City, NBA commissioner David Stern is holding onto the hope that the Detroit Pistons will be sold in a relatively short period of time.
According to the Associated Press, Stern says that he hopes that the sale of the club can come to a conclusion sometime in the month of November, adding that there is an “interested owner and interested buyer”. He further stated that he hopes that the sale of the team concludes in the month of November.
The owner in this case is Karen Davidson, widow of the late Bill Davidson with the intersted and likely buyer of the Pistons presumed to be Mike Ilitch, owner of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings.
Before any sale goes through, there’s an exclusive negotiating period which expires in about 10 days. Being one of the original teams in the Association, I hope that the Pistons complete this transaction as soon as possible.
