Even the Celtics second unit moves the ball so effortlessly. Smooth, crisp, just basketball played like its supposed to be played. Fun to watch, energetic bunch of bench guys. Nate Robinson is a huge plus and even Marquis Daniels looks good, especially during the post-up on Wade with an up and under finish.
Miami has to attack the basket more. Post up LeBron and Wade. High-percentage shots gets your offense going. At the very least, you get to the free throw line.
Doc Rivers made an excellent timeout with 5:28 to go in the 2nd quarter with his team up 11. 31-20 was the score after the Heat made a quick 5-0 run. Boston is fortunate to have an outstanding coach in Rivers. He is such a terrific motivator before games, during games, during timeouts. He knows basketball, and even better, he’s knows his players and how to speak to them, not at them. He gets through to them better than any other coach in the East.
Both Bosh and Wade are taking difficult shots. Celtics are playing tremendous defense. So suffocating and aggressive that you have to use pump fakes to get them off their feet.
7-0 run by the home team after the Rivers timeout. Sometimes a team needs a timeout to recharge and get back on track, the Celtics are definitely one of those teams. Only team that does well without needing a timeout while playing against a run, the Lakers with Phil Jackson.
I want to see how the Heat close out this first half. Let’s see how they respond after a timeout. I expect to see more of Bosh to end the half.
After each defensive rebound the Heat have to push it and use their athleticism and open court skills to their advantage. They can get the Celtics there. They almost have to because buckets are hard to come by in the Garden tonight.
Glen Davis is quite an acrobatic finisher. Such a rare athlete who does a lot of things well and is so instrumental to the Celtics pick ‘n roll success. Good thing they didn’t trade him to Charlotte for D.J. Augustin last February. I can’t believe he wasn’t a 1st round pick. GM’s are still kicking themselves for passing up on Davis. Ray Allen, Glen Davis for Jeff Green. You think OKC would want Davis right now?
