Heat-Celtics Third Quarter Tidbits

  • Rajon Rondo is allowed to roam around and rip the rock when Carlos Arroyo is on the floor.  Miami needs to get Mario Chalmers in the mix because you need a PG to initiate the offense.  Arroyo is more or less an undersized shooting guard.
  • Rondo already has 11 dimes.  Can we say he’s a Top 15 player already?  Even minus the headband, he’s still running the offense to perfection.  His set-ups to Garnett make the two of them look like Stockton and Malone.
  • When LeBron posts up he has to make quicker decisions.  One move, one shake, or one fake, then go to work.  He gets that down if he watches more Kobe or some of the best bigs in the Association.  Imitate the best front line players.  He can’t just power his way everywhere.
  • Ray Allen is a cool, calm, and collective customer.  Watching him shoot is poetry in motion.  Kids, watch Ray Allen if you want to learn the fundamentals of shooting off screens.  Impressive, so impressive, I think when it’s all said and done he’s the best shooter ever coming off screens.  Even better than Reggie Miller.  Rip Hamilton is the second best in the game today.
  • Glen Davis could be a 17-8 guy starting for an NBA team.  And not just on any team, but a contending team he can start and put up lofty numbers.  Staggering skill set for a guy that big.
  • LeBron’s floater in the lane coming off a drive going right is a start in the right direction in terms of developing a better all-around inside game.  Mid-range is almost there, now time to work on the eight feet and in game.  I mean the eight feet and in game not counting the dunks and lay-ups.
  • Eddie House is such a perfect fit for this Heat club.  He’s proven, possesses a quick release, and is unfazed when it comes to big shots during key moments.
  • Miami really misses Mike Miller.  I suggest they try to pry James Posey away from the Indiana Pacers.
  • Dwayne Wade and Paul Pierce have been non-factors.  Yet, I have a hunch one of them will step it up and make a big shot or two when the game’s on the line.  Both have “ice water in their veins”.  I’ll go with Wade.
  • For as much as his struggles have been overly emphasized against Boston and their standout defense, LeBron has been highly efficient tonight if you dismiss his free throw misses.  Can’t excuse him for that, but he is averaging a mind-boggling 30.9 ppg in his career against the Celtics.  Even Wade averages more than 30 a game against Boston.
