Richard Hamilton’s role with the Detroit Pistons has significantly reduced. According to the Detroit Free Press, Hamilton has now become a distraction to the team as he has gone completely upset with the franchise.
Hamiton’s contract takes up a big chunk of the salary cap space the Pistons have, along with the other big contracts of Ben Gordon (who was picked to start over Rip at shooting guard), Charlie Villanueva, and Tayshuan Prince.
Because of his enlarged contract, Hamilton is completely untradeable. He is only averaging 13.6 points and 2.5 assists in 26 minutes per game. Hamilton is also believed to be making excuses of not playing since Gordon started over him, like an upset stomach. Hamilton has also made some criticizing remarks about the team and how the offense and everything is run.
It’s tough to move Hamilton, and another reason why they can’t trade him is because the team is looking to be bough, according to Joe Dumars.
“If I need to have a long talk with him, I will,” Dumars said Monday on WDFN. “I’ll see how Rip is doing tomorrow when he gets in here. Rip’s been good for me.”
The only team that has been rumored to go for Hamilton were the Charlotte Bobcats. But that was last season. Another team that could probably be under radar are the Chicago Bulls, who have expressed interest in shooting guards lately. But they are more going for guys like O.J. Mayo and J.R. Smith.
But we all pretty know the situation well now.
Hamilton doesn’t want the Pistons.
Well, the Pistons don’t want ya either!
