Magic Fend Off Undermanned Bucks 97-87

The Milwaukee Bucks are one snakebitten team, with their injuries mounting – or so it seems. They currently are without Brandon Jennings (broken foot), Calros Delfino (concussion symptoms) and Drew Gooden (plantar fasciitis in his left foot).

Nevertheless, they went to Amway Center to take on the Orlando Magic Wednesday and with all things considered, they put up a valiant battle for 48 minutes.

But the usual suspects came through for the Magic as Dwight Howard scored 28 allowing Orlando to hold on for the 97-87 win over Milwaukee.

The Magic led 49-33 at the intermission as Howard managed to avoid serious foul trouble and used a myriad of moves to score 17 first-half points.

Orlando led by as many as 19 before their lead was cut to 84-79 on a John Salmons jumper with 4:06 left to go in the game. A basket by Howard followed by a 3-pointer by Hedo Turkoglu increased the Magic’s lead back into double-digits and the Bucks wouldn’t mount another serious challenge from that point.

Howard led all Magic scorers with a game-high 28 points, along with 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block while Jason Richardson and Turkoglu added 13 apiece – with Richardson grabbing 3 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists while Turkoglu grabbed 4 boards, dished out 3 assists, along with a steal and a block.

The Bucks were led by Corey Maggette from off the bench with 21 points, along with 7 rebounds and an assist while rookie Larry Sanders added 15 with 8 rebounds, an assist and a block. Salmons chipped in 13 with a rebound, an assist and a steal.

Both teams return to action on Friday when Orlando (23-12) looks to win their eighth straight, hosting the Houston Rockets while Milwaukee (13-20) travels south to Miami to take on the Heat.
