One thing that can be said about the series between the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat: the final scores do not reflect how competitive this series has been.
The aforementioned teams met Thursday night at Bradley Center in their final meeting of the season, with the Heat riding a seven-game winning streak.
The game was very competitive as there were sone double-digit leads held by the Heat, but the Bucks persevered and sent the game into overtime.
But Miami would hold the lead throughout the extra period, taking the 101-95 win over Milwaukee.
At first glance, things didn’t look good for the Bucks as the Heat held a big lead early on, but Milwaukee regained their composure and went to their locker room down by just seven at the intermission.
The Bucks led 87-83 on an Earl Boykins jumper with 3:05 remaining in regulation, but Dwyane Wade hit a pair of jumpers, drawing a foul on the second against Andrew Bogut that tied the game at 87. Wade missed the free throw, but Chrs Bosh followed with a tip-in that made it 89-87.
With just 26 seconds left, Bosh and Bogut exchanged free throws that kept Miami ahead 93-91 and Boykins tied the game, hitting a layup over Zydrunas Ilgauskas with 1.5 seconds left.
Wade’s wide-open jumper missed, sending the game into overtime.
Miami would dominate the overtime session, outscoring Milwaukee 10-4 to earn the tough victory.
LeBron James led the Heat with 26 points, along with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals and a block while Bosh added 16 with 12 rebounds and a block. Carlos Arroyo chipped in 15 with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal while Wade contributed 14 with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
The Bucks were led by Chris Douglas-Roberts, who came off the bench to score a game-high 30 points, along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks while John Salmons added 15 with 3 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals. Boykins chipped in 14 with 2 rebounds and 4 assists while Bogut, despite scoring just 12 points, grabbed a career-high 27 rebounds.
Miami (29-9) plays again on Sunday when they travel to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers while Milwaukee (13-21) flies east to New Jersey to face the Nets on Saturday night.
