This is just my point of view, but I am sensing that the Philadelphia 76ers are finally coming full circle as a team.
Prior to their game against the Phoenix Suns, they went 6-5; while that does not seem like much, consider that after starting the season 3-13, they went 15-12 – again prior to Friday night’s matchup.
Also factor in that they have already exceeded their win total at home (they won 12 last season), and it’s fair to say that they have gradually improved.
Nevertheless, Philadelphia dominated in the forst half anf the third quarter, easily coasting to a 105-95 over Phoenix at Wells Fargo Center.
The 76ers were in the zone, so to speak, in the first half, as they caused plenty of Suns turnovers and scoring lots of points on transition. Philadelphia went to their locker room sporting a 61-47 advantage at the break.
It wouldn’t get any better for the Suns when the Sixers’ Jrue Holiday stripped the ball from Steve Nash and fed Andre Iguodala for a two-handed alley-oop, giving Philadelphia a 73-55 lead.
Phoenix wouldn’t get hot until the fourth quarter when they ignited an 11-0 run to get to within 10; however, it was a case of too little too late.
Thaddeus Young led all 76ers scorers with 24 points, along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals while Elton Brand added 22 with 9 rebounds. Evan Turner and Lou Williams came off the bench to chip in 14 apiece – with Turner grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, along with a block while Williams grabbed 2 boards, dished out 6 assists, along with a block.
The Suns were led by Jared Dudley, who came off the bench to score 23 points, along with 7 rebounds and an assist while Nash added 17 with 3 rebounds and 9 assists while turning the ball over 5 times. Grant Hill chipped in 13 with a rebound, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Both teams return to action on Wednesday when Philadelphia (19-25) travels to Toronto to take on the Raptors while Phoenix (20-23) returns home to host the Charlotte Bobcats.
