Forward Chris Bosh (#1) of the Miami Heat drives against DeJuan Blair (#34) of the San Antonio Spurs.
Ten days ago (March 4, to be exact), the Miami Heat got rocked by the San Antonio Spurs 125-95 – easily the worst loss Miami had suffered this NBA season.
Here we are at March 14, and both teams met again – this time at American Airlines Arena, with the bitter loss still fresh on the Heat’s psyche. Without a doubt, they wanted to avenge that loss in the worst possible way.
And after 48 minutes of play, Miami did just what San Antonio did to them over a week ago, shooting 54 percent and easily took the win, 110-80.
The Spurs shot just 6-for-25 from the perimeter in the first half, 1-for-9 in the second quarter, and the Heat held San Antonio to their fourth-lowest offensive output in 24 minutes this season.
Miami took a 49-39 lead to their locker room at the break, with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh combining for 31 points and 12 boards along the way.
Although there were 24 minutes left to play, the final outcome was never in doubt. LeBron James scored on a dunk with 10:14 remaining; 17 seconds later, Wade would steal the ball from Steve Novak and go in for a dunk that pushed the Heat lead to 87-67.
Miami would coast the rest of the way and ice the victory.
Bosh led the Heat scorers with a team-high 30 points, along with 12 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals while Wade added 29 with 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. James chipped in 21 with 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 blocks.
The Spurs were led by Tony Parker with 18 points, along with a rebound and 5 assists while Tim Duncan added 14 with 6 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Manu Ginobili chipped in 12 with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal and a block.
Miami (46-21) plays again on Wednesday when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder while San Antonio (54-13) travels west to Dallas to take on the Mavericks on Friday night.
