Bucks Keep Playoff Hopes Alive, Rally To Beat 76ers In OT 93-87

Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings on Saturday night would get a chance to redeem himself as the Bucks welcomed the Philadelphia 76ers to the Bradley Center.

Milwaukee is right behind the Charlotte Hornets, staring up at the Indiana Pacers, who currently hold the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. Meanwhile, Philadelphia is comfortably in the #6 position.

Jennings, without a doubt mindful that the Bucks’ backs are against the wall, decided to take matters into his own hands. He would score nine points in overtime, leading Milwaukee past Philadelphia 93-87.

After clinching a playoff berth on Friday, the 76ers were looking to build some momentum as they built an early double-digit lead in the first half. They would take a 48-39 lead into their locker room at the break.

Despite their deficit, the Bucks rallied as Keyon Dooling and John Salmons connected on consecutive 3-pointers and Salmons would follow that up a few minutes later with a jumper that gave Milwaukee aq 76-69 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia would answer back, and Elton Brand hit an 11-footer off a Jrue Holiday assist, tying the game at 79 with 1:42 left in regulation.

In the last sequence in the fourth, Holiday threw the ball away in the final seconds, giving the Bucks one last chance with 2.5 seconds left, but Jennings’ 3-pointer hit the front of the rim, sending the game into overtime.

Milwaukee would take over in the extra period as they would score 14 to Phialdelphia’s nine, with Jennings scoring nine by himself in the extra five minutes.

The Bucks were led by Salmons with 19 points, along with 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals while Jennings added 13 with 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Drew Gooden each chipped in 12 – with Mbah a Moute grabbing 5 rebounds while Gooden grabbed 12 boards and dished out 2 assists.

Elton Brand led the Sixers with 20 points, along with 12 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and 2 blocks while Holiday added 15 with 3 rebounds, 10 assists and a steal. Thaddeus Young chipped in 14 with 6 rebounds, along with 2 steals.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday night as Milwaukee (31-45) travels to Orlando to take on the Magic while Philadelphia (40-37) flies east to Boston to take on the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics.
