How Much Will The MVP Be Affected In Game Two?
Derrick Rose will be presented the Most Valuable Player award tonight in his hometown before Game two’s tip-off against Atlanta. There was no doubting he would receive the hardware, and there’s also no doubting he was going to play following his team’s loss in Game one.
Both Rose and Boozer fully participated in shootaround on Wednesday. Coach Tom Thibodeau was asked about the status of his club’s pair of reeling players and responded precisely. “Great. Everyone’s fine today. Full practice,” coach Thibs said Wednesday. Just as expected – every is fine come Playoff time.
As for Rose, he feels great, and why shouldn’t he? “Actually the medicine they gave me [Monday] on it was great,” Rose said Tuesday. “I woke up this morning feeling great. Practice, worked out afterwards so I’m great.” The 22-year old is the MVP, he’s fine. Yet, is there reason for concern if his burst is altered? As Rose goes, so goes the Bulls.
In 41 minutes of action during Game one, Rose shot 11-27 (2-7 from 3) and for only the third all season, did not attempt a foul shot. The explosive guard went for a team-high 24 points; his second lowest output this postseason.
Carlos Boozer, who has been nursing a turf toe injury, collected 14 points and eight rebounds in the team’s 103-95 loss to the Hawks. Needless to say, the duo of aching contributors need to heal quickly and play their finest if they want to earn a split before heading out to Atlanta.
