Report: Ricky Rubio Decides To Join Timberwolves

Fifth Overall Pick In ’09 NBA Draft

According to reports, 20-year old point guard Ricky Rubio has agreed to accompany the Minnesota Timberwolves next season, ending a two-year struggle with the organization that had many experts debating whether or not he was going to crossover to the NBA.

Despite the whispers of Rubio being uninterested playing pro ball in the city of Minnesota, an informed source verified to The Associated Press Wednesday night that the slick ball handling sensation will be in Minnesota next season.

T’Wolves GM David Kahn called Rubio “a virtuoso and somebody special” after drafting him in 2009.

The wait is over and it’s time to see if the kid can live up to the hype.  I mean, he drew some comparisons to the late, great NBA legend “Pistol” Pete Maravich.

Here’s some more interesting quotes and his draft day video and highlights:

Kevin Love via Twitter: “Just thinking about pick and rolls…goodnight.  “Pick….N….Rolls.”

Duke, USA coach Mike Krzyzewski (last year): He’s gotten bigger and he plays outstanding defense, and because he’s a pass-first guard — he’s going to be liked by everybody who plays with him.”

Pau Gasol, earlier this season: “He’s a special player and a very good point guard,” “Very unselfish. He’s got great size, great length. He knows how to play the game very well. He’s got a great feel for the game. He’s just a guy that will get the team going and do what he needs to do.”
