Barea Set To Replace Stevenson Tonight In Starting Lineup For Mavs

Barea’s NBA Finals: 4-23

According to Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD, J.J. Barea will be starting instead of DeShawn Stevenson next to Jason Kidd in the backcourt of tonight’s Game four in Dallas against Miami.

The tiny guard from Northeastern is averaging 4.3 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 turnovers per game, and is shooting 21.7% from the floor and 12.5% from downtown.

Also, Brian Cardinal will be ahead of Peja Stojakovic in the rotation for Game four’s “must-win”.

“This is it for us,” Mavericks guard Jason Terry said. “I’m looking forward to Game 4, and we are going to treat it as Game 7.”

I have tuned out Terry’s quotes, but even the pair of most accomplished players on the Mavs roster echoed the same thoughts.

“It’s a must-win situation for us on Tuesday,” Dirk said. “We can’t go down 3-1.”

“We got to look at this as our chance to tie it up, said Jason Kidd. We definitely can’t go down 3-1.”

It’s obvious the Mavs are seeking a better offensive performance tonight against a tough, defensive-minded Heat squad.  The switch to Barea will make Dwayne Wade exert more energy on the defensive end.  Good move, coach Carlisle.
