Sources: Nothing Holding Rubio Back From NBA

Rubio Will Turn 21 In October

ESPN has been informed by sources that Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio, the Timberwolves 5th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, has settled an agreement with his team FC Barcelona and the T-Wolves, necessary to meet the May 31 deadline.  Reports said the deadline had been reached two weeks ago. The expensive buyout price of the contract was more than $6 million.

Rubio posted on Twitter in Spanish, that he will have a press conference in Barcelona on Friday to reveal his basketball plans.

“Goodnight everyone,” “Tomorrow morning I give a press conference to say my future.  A hug and see you tomorrow.”

A letter of approval from FIBA, the final procedure, graced NBA commissioner David Stern on Thursday morning, a close source with insight of the situation said.

Commissioner Stern still officially has to grant his approval, but an inside source said, “It’s just a formality. It’s done.”
