2011 NBA Draft, Picks 5-8: Knight Drops To Pistons At No. 8

UK Point Guard Fell #8 To Detroit

5. Toronto Raptors: Jonas Valanciunas, C, Lithuania

My take: Surprised Toronto did not go Biyombo or point guard with either Knight or Kemba Walker.  No doubt, this team is definitely rebuilding, so they can wait a year for Valanciunas to arrive in the Association.

6. Washington Wizards: Jan Vesely, Czech Republic

My take: Excellent fit next to JaVale McGee playing alongside John Wall feeding him the rock.  He is an above the rim athlete with tons of promise.

7. Charlotte Bobcats (via Sacramento): Bismack Biyombo, C, Congo

An impressive defender with a build like a physical specimen.  Can block shots, recorded the first-ever triple-double at the Nike Hoops Summit.  Back, knee, and buyout issues abound.

8. Detroit Pistons: Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky

Solid pick by the Pistons, who have been looking for a point guard ever since Chauncey Billups departed.  Is not a pure floor general, but has the smarts to develop into one.  Sidenote: during interview, looked extremely disappointed to be drafted this late.
