Irving’s Impressive 21-Point Debut Drives Cavs Past Pistons; 91-87

Kyrie Irving scored 21 points in his first exhibition game — including five free throws in the final minute — in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 91-87 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.

Irving, the top pick in this year’s draft out of Duke, wasn’t in the starting lineup, but he looked composed in what was a bad-shooting game.

At halftime, the Wine & Gold was shooting 33 percent and had 14 turnovers. Detroit was at 30 percent and 10 turnovers.

Tristan Thompson, the fourth overall pick from Texas, had eight points, four rebounds (two offensive), and two blocks.  He was 2-5 from the field and 4-8 from the free throw line.
