Wizards Rookie Jan Vesely Not Expected To Play In Opener Tonight vs. Nets

Washington Wizards forward Jan Vesely, the sixth overall pick of the 2011 draft, is listed as day-to-day with a right hip injury and is unlikely to be available for the season opener on Monday against the New Jersey Nets.

Coach Flip Saunders said last week that Vesely underwent an X-ray and MRI for what he described as a “twinge” inside his hip and both were negative.

The high-flying 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward logged 22 minutes and recorded seven points in the first preseason game against the 76ers.  He did not play in the second game.
