Wade’s Game Winning Shot Lifts Heat Over Charlotte; 96-95

On Christmas Day, LeBron was the story of the show in the opening win at Dallas.

Against Boston in the home opener, it was rookie Norris Cole who stole the show in the fourth quarter.

Tonight, it was the guy who’s nickname is “Flash”, despite missing the entire third quarter, who made the big shot when it mattered the most.

“When (coach Erik Spoelstra) called it, I was shocked because this guy had it going on,” Wade said, pointing to James. “I wasn’t in the flow. I was about to say, ‘Let LeBron run it.’ Then I said, ‘You know what, I’ll do it.’ ”

Dwyane Wade took the responsibility of possessing the rock, driving left to bank a 10-footer off glass over Gerald Henderson with 2.9 seconds remaining, to propel the Heat to a 96-95 win in Charlotte.

Wade finished with only 10 points on 5 of 13 shooting, but still coach Spoe relied on his injured star in the team’s final possession.

Even LeBron knew that Wade struggled, however, it doesn’t matter when you hit the final shot to win the game.

He didn’t play well tonight but, hey, nobody cares about what else you do after you hit a game-winner like that, LeBron said. That was a big shot by him.”

As for LeBron, he was 13 of 23 from the floor and made all nine of his free-throw attempts for a game-high 36 points.

Oh, and he also added seven assists, six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots — I guess you can say he’s “feeling good.”

“I feel good and this is the best I’ve felt in a while,” James said. “I’m back to having fun playing the game and doing what I do best and that’s attacking and getting to the free throw line.”

The Heat are having fun at 3-0 — and still you have to feel the best is yet to come.

Down 11-0 to start the game versus the Bobcats and obtaining their first lead of the game with 6:37 remaining — the Heat had an early signature win — showing their human side, coming from behind on the road on the second night of a back-to-back.

Note: LeBron mentioned attacking and getting to the free throw line — and he was right — as he hasn’t attempted a three-point shot this season — he is 32-37 from the charity stripe this season.

Next Game: Friday December 30 at Minnesota Timberwolves, 8 ET.
