Dwyane Wade has been the face of the Air Jordan game-shoe over the past two seasons, wearing the Air Jordan 2010 and 2011 sneakers. Many people clamored for a signature shoe for D-Wade, and in April, Nike unveiled the Jordan Fly Wade, Dwyane’s first Jordan signature shoe in a line of many more to come.
At just 13.875 ounces, the Fly Wade is the lightest basketball shoe that Jordan has ever produced (the Air Jordan 2011 previously held that title, weighing in at just 14.6 ounces). With the use of lightweight materials and efficient construction, Wade’s got the equipment he needs to keep an edge over his opponents and cater to his high-flying style of play. The shoe also features D-Wade’s Agent D3 logo on the tongue of the shoe, a nod to his single-minded mission of capturing another title.
At launch, Nike offered the shoe in two colors – Pimento/White-Black and Black/Varsity Red-Dark Grey. Two other colors were released on June 9th – Radiant Green and Orion Blue.
I decided to wait for the Orion Blue shoes, and I couldn’t be happier! Check out these pictures:
Nike’s also giving you the option of creating your own colorway of these lightweight kicks by offering NIKEiD customization available for the Fly Wade!
The verdict: The Fly Wade is a great looking, lightweight sneaker that’s hard to beat. I wore these to dinner last night with jeans, and got some nods from those in the know.
The hardest decision is which color to go with. But whatever you do, don’t delay – These shoes will be gone before you know it, and instead of paying $140 (retail), you’ll be forced to pay MUCH MUCH more on the secondary market!
