He is known as “China’s Magic Johnson” he is the property of the Los Angeles Lakers, and he may be playing this upcoming season in the NBA. Who is this player? According to “China Daily” he is 6′7” guard Sun Yue, and the Chinese sports media, believe he will be the next star from their country in the Association. Sun according to the report, took the recently concluded Beijing Olympics quite seriously, as a venue to show case his talents to the planet. The guard who averaged 8.1 points, and a team high 2.3 assists per game, told reporters he was glad to get the world wide exposure. Sun said “I want to show myself to the world. I tried to do my best and play my part on the court. For me, every second counts at the Olympics, so I want to take the chance to let people know me.”

Sun Yue who was taken by the Lakers in last year’s NBA Draft is keeping mum on how the negotiations are going with the team from L.A. However he like so many young players would love to have the chance to play with 2008 NBA MVP Kobe Bryant. The guard was excited about his encounter with the Lakers franchise player. Sun told reporters “I met Kobe and told him I’d like to play with him next season, he said ‘OK’, and ’see you in training camp’.”

The “Associated Press” has reported that the Houston Rockets have received guard DJ Strawberry from the Phoenix Suns in return for rookie guard Sean Singletary. Phoenix will be the third team that the rookie Singletary has been with in the Association, since the NBA Draft in June. Singletary was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the draft. He then was traded to Houston included in the deal that sent Kings veteran forward Ron Artest to the Rockets. Strawberry was a second round pick by Phoenix in the 2007 NBA Draft. He played in just 33 games last season for the Suns.

The “Associated Press“?reported Monday that Chicago Bulls rookie point guard Derrick Rose pleaded guilty Monday to speeding back in April in Illinois. Rose was pulled over by Illinois State Police on Route 88 doing 106 mph?on a section of highway where the speeding limit is 65 mph. Rose was ordered by a Kane County Judge to pay a fine of $1000.00, and to attend traffic school. Rose was the number one pick in last month’s NBA Draft by the Bulls. Derrick you may want to just stick to accelerating on the hardwood instead of the highway.

ESPN.com? is reporting that Los Angeles Clippers rookie Eric Gordon will be out of commission for the rest of the Las Vegas Summer League after pulling his left hamstring Saturday. The number seven pick in last month’s NBA Draft?was injured as the Clippers fell to the Charlotte Bobcats Saturday night. The former Hoosier’s injury is not believed to?be serious, and he should be fine in plenty of time for training camp and the preseason games.?
