The “Associated Press” reported Friday that Philadelphia 76ers center Jason Smith could miss the entire upcoming season after tearing his ACL in his left knee on Wednesday. Smith who completed his rookie season recently, was hurt while playing in an Association approved camp in Las Vegas. There was no contact that led to the injury. Smith got the organization very excited about his prospects in the coming season, after he had such a good performance in the Las Vegas Summer League in July. The center had an average of 18.6 points, and 8 boards per game while playing in five games. Smith will have a second opinion on his injured knee before he and the Sixers decide what course of action to take. The mostly likely scenario with a torn ACL is surgery, which could Smith out of action for the entire season.

Was hoping he’d have a chance to contribute this year. Wouldn’t mind seeing Theo Ratliff back in a Sixers uniform.
