Well I know what I am asking for for my birthday next year. The “Associated Press” reported Monday that Boston Celtics Hall of Fame center, and former coach Bill Russell will release a book due next Spring on his relationship with the late great Red Auerbach. The book to be called “Red and Me” will be published by Harper Collins. Russell and Auerbach won an unbelievable 11 NBA Championships in 13 seasons. Russell released a statement about the book on Monday. It read Arnold Jacob Auerbach passed on Oct. 28, 2006; almost 50 years from when I joined his Boston Celtics. I felt a tremendous sense of loss, a huge void in my life. There was an empty space in my psyche where a special person had been. I thought about that at Red’s funeral. And the fact that there was no logical reason why we ever should’ve become friends, because we came from such diverse places. I thought about how much I missed his friendship.”

The Las Vegas Summer League contest also featured the debut of New York rookie Danilo Gallinari who may have won over some of those booing fans at the NBA Draft last month who booed him. Gallinari after looking a little lost at first, found his way and scored 14. The Cavaliers were led by their first round pick J.J. Hickson who also scored 26 points.

Fox News” reported Monday that former NBA referee Tim Donaghy made over 100 phone calls to another NBA ref, during the period that he was supplying inside information to his associates.  The report states that Donaghy allegedly made  134 calls to NBA referee Scott Foster between October of 2006 and April of 2007. Donaghy has previously pleaded guilty to providing information, as well as betting on games during that window.

The NBA released a statement later on Monday that Foster had been questioned on the matter. The statement read “The government had complete access to Tim Donaghy’s phone records and thoroughly investigated this matter, including conducting an interview of referee Scott Foster. The government has said that they have found no evidence of criminal conduct aside from that of Mr. Donaghy. Once again, the only criminal conduct is that of Mr. Donaghy.”
