Hedo’s Triple-Double Leads Magic Past Hawks 123-112

In Monday night’s game between the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic, Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu showed why it was a mistake to omit him from the 2008 NBA All-Star game; Turkoglu recorded a triple-double as he and Dwight Howard led the Magic to a convincing 123-112 win over the Hawks at Amway Arena.

Despite the final scxore, both teams shot vey well, with Atlanta shooting a hot 51% – including 11-of-17 from 3-point land, while Orlando shot an even hotter 53.6% from the floor – including 15-of-28 from behind the 3-point arc; the Magic shot 61% in the first half.? Orlando’s Turkoglu drained a 3 at the buzzer to give the Magic a 74-53 halftime lead.? Orlando was led by Howard with 26 points, 16 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot, while?the aforementioned Turloglu recorded a triple-double by scoring 23 – including 3 treys – with 10 rebounds and 13 assists; Rashard Lewis added 22 – including 4 three-pointers – with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a blocked shot, while Keith Bogans pitched in with 19 – including 3 treys – with a rebound, an assist and a steal.

Atlanta was led by Joe Johnson with 27 points with a rebound and 11 assists, while Bibby scored 23 – including 5 treys?with 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals; Smith and reserve Salim Stoudemire chipped in with 16 apiece – with Smith grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists and blocking 2 shots, while Stoudemire grabbed a rebound.? Orlando (41-24)?will now travel coast-to-coast to face the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday, while Atlanta (26-37) make a somewhat shorter flight as they go to Houston to take on the Rockets – also on Wednesday.???
